I’m Dr. Laura Schmalzl – a clinical neuropsychologist, cognitive neuroscientist, yoga therapist and coach. I’m also a faculty member and mentor for YogaX at Stanford School of Medicine.
I am dedicated to helping individuals come home to themselves. With a foundation rooted in neuroscience, psychology, yoga therapy and coaching, I offer a unique and integrative approach to personal transformation. My work centers on nervous system regulation, cultivating presence, and supporting individuals through life transitions with grounded, embodied practices.
Having navigated my own path of bridging intellect and intuition, academia and embodiment, I’ve come to deeply value both the power of science-based tools and the necessity of soul-aligned living. My offerings weave together reflective dialogue, mindful movement, breathwork, and attention regulation – all tailored to meet each person exactly where they are.
I specialize in working with individuals who are searching for clarity, purpose, and stability in the midst of life’s demands. As someone who transitioned from a long career in academia to building a private practice that aligns with my deeper calling, I understand what it means to shift paths in pursuit of a more meaningful and sustainable life.
I’m married and became a mother at 47, and I’m now in the daily rhythm of raising a daughter while juggling motherhood, family commitments, home life and work. I know firsthand the necessity of tending to my physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing so I can show up fully – both for my family and my clients. Through each transition, I’ve remained anchored in the tools and practices I now share with others – practices that have helped me cultivate resilience and stability amidst profound change. It is my passion to support others on similar journeys with grounded guidance and compassionate care.
I envision a world where people feel connected – to themselves, to one another and to a life of meaning and purpose. My mission is to empower individuals to create the life they want to experience. Whether in one-on-one sessions, workshops, or retreats, my work is always in service of that deeper homecoming – to presence, authentic alignment and sustained joy.
